2024 LEND A HAND SPORTS CHARITY EVENT
Hosted by: LDFH Head Coach Erin Catalfano and Linda Kreiser
Our 13th Annual Lend A Hand Sports Charity Event included a Field Hockey Tournament on Saturday May 4 2024. The tournament will run from 8am to 5pm.
Recipients who will share the proceeds this year are being reviewed: Applications now being accepted for 2024
Our 2024 LAH Recipients -
Erin Kelly: Erin, a Lower Dauphin School Psychologist, suffered a stroke on 12-19-23 as a result of an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) which disrupted blood flow and oxygen circulation. Erin was placed under medical sedation, undergoing multiple surgeries to reduce the swelling in her brain. Erin’s condition is slowing improving. The generosity of Lend A Hand will assist Erin with current medical bills as well as the cost of upcoming therapies and treatments.
The Lontz Family: The Lontz family lives in Graystone Farms. Justin is an LDHS graduate, and Jacob is an LDHS junior on the swim team. Their father, Jeff Lontz, was diagnosed with a blood cancer on 10-15-23. His condition did not respond to treatment. After Mr. Lontz passed away on 1-20-24, the family no longer had health insurance, as Mr. Lontz carried the policy for the family. Their mother, Sue Lontz, is a real estate agent; her work does not provide health insurance. After the death of Mr. Lontz, Mrs. Lontz needed to purchase health insurance for her family. Lend A Hand funds will be used to assist the Lontz family in paying for their health insurance and for medical bills.
Laura Spangenberg Family: Laura Spangenberg, an LDHS graduate, lost her battle with acute myeloid leukemia on 3-8-24 after receiving multiple rounds of chemotherapy and targeted therapies over the last years. Laura worked as a pre-school special needs teacher with the CAIU for over 25 years. Funds from Lend A Hand will assist Laura’s sons, Ben and Luke, and their cousin Alexis (Sam) Moore. All three are LDHS graduates, and all three lived with Laura during her last years.
Val Stricker: Val, an LDHS attendance secretary and musical producer, suffered a stroke in 2023. Her stroke caused Val to miss two months of work and has limited her ability to return to work full time. The generosity of Lend A Hand will assist Val with outstanding medical bills and the cost of continuing doctor’s appointments.
